About
Kasia is a Research Fellow at the University of St Andrews, working with the Peace and Conflict Resolution Evidence Platform (PeaceRep), a project creating digital tools for conflict resolution and peacebuilding funded by the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO). Her expertise lies at the intersection of conflict resolution, the evolving nature of warfare, and conflict political economy and she has regional expertise of the Middle East, Russia, China, Africa, and the Balkans. She holds a PhD from the University of St Andrews and MRes and BA degrees from the University of Exeter. She has previously worked at Durham University and Alaco.
As a researcher, policy consultant, and educator specialising in areas of international security, conflict, and peacebuilding, Kasia has provided policy briefs, analysis, and executive education to policy specialists at the FCDO, the British and Scottish parliaments, and multinational corporations. Her research and analysis has featured in numerous policy, academic, and news reports and articles, including Journal of Peacekeeping, Civil Wars, Al-Monitor, and PeaceRep. She has also been an invited speaker at events organised by the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt, the FCDO's Conflict Resolution Division, the Scottish Council on Global Affairs, and the Universities of Durham, St Andrews, and King's College London. She has co-edited one of the foremost books on great power competition in the Middle East and acts as a peer reviewer for several top-tier journals and academic publishers. She is a fellow of the UNESCO Inclusive Policy Lab, Centre for Global Law and Governance, and the Institute for Middle East, Central Asia and Caucasus Studies. She has professional and lived experience in the Middle East and speaks numerous foreign languages to an advanced degree (Arabic, Russian, Spanish, Polish, French).
